Federal Government urges CIOTA on measures to transform, and promote the transport sector

         During the inauguration of the 2nd Governing Council of the Chartered Institute for Transport Administration of Nigeria (CIOTA) in Abuja, the Minister of State for Transportation, Prince Ademola Adegoroye, called on CIOTA to implement measures that will transform and promote Nigeria’s transport sector. Adegoroye praised CIOTA’s support in policy formulation, initiative development, and capacity building in the country. 

         The President of CIOTA, Prince Segun Obayendo, emphasized the need for synergy between relevant stakeholders and the government to advance the transport sector. Obayendo also stated that the newly constituted governing board, stakeholders, and the government at all levels need to work together to bring about the desired positive change in the transportation sector. He acknowledged CIOTA’s responsibilities and achievements in advancing the study, training, and regulation of transport management and administration in Nigeria.

    Dr Anthonia Ekpa, former Transport Director, Ministry of Transport, expressed her willingness to support CIOTA in achieving its goals, while the Director-General of the Nigeria Building and Road Research Institute, Prof. Sampson Duna, reiterated the need for collaboration to ensure safe and affordable transportation for Nigerians. 

     The Chairman of CIOTA’s Membership and Planning Committee, Prof. Odewumi Samuel, expressed optimism that the recently inaugurated council would develop measures to address the challenges facing the sector. The Deputy President of CIOTA, Alhaji Umar Iya, expressed confidence that the committee would move the institute forward and drive its policies. The National Publicity Secretary of CIOTA, Mrs Chinwe Uwaegbute, emphasized the committee’s commitment to deliver on its campaign promises and achieve a realistic roadmap for the transport sector.
