Temple SYC Inspection Limited and Ondo State ministry of transport today embarked on the yearly road walk exercise tagged Awaye in Akure metropolis. Awaye, a yearly event, literally and practically connotes, ‘Drive Safely’, could not hold last year due to the Covid-19 safety precautions, kicked off at the ministry of transport office in Akure.
Declaring the event opened was the Permanent Secretary MOT, Mr. kayode Ogundele, who, during his address charged the VIO officers in the state to play their roles diligently and ensure safety is etched in the mind of all motorists in Ondo state, always. Laying emphasis on the 3rd quarter of the year, Mr. Ogundele attested that the surge in vehicular movements during these months leads to increase in road accidents. Further, he urged the officers to sensitize not just the motorists but the Okada riders, as failure to do so will become a burden on the safety officers.
In another development, he charged the motorists to ensure their vehicles are certified roadworthy as Ondo Computerised Vehicle Inspection Service is well equipped in fulfilling her obligation in that regard. The road walk exercise took off from the MOT office, Oyemekun road to Ondo Computerised Vehicle Inspection Service, Akure Center, Ijapo.
With Mr. Kayode Ogundele were the Ondo state VIO Chief, Engineer Dennis Adeleye, the state coordinator, ONCVIS, DSO Femi Akindasa, amongst others.
